Rules to choose AWS Region:
- Compliance - data governance and legal requirements. (in and out of data is controlled by country and restricted to that region only) Need permission for access and transfer.
- Proximity to customers - reduce latency.
- Available services within a Region
- Pricing - Every region has it's own rate charge.
Availability Zones
- Region can has min 3 and max 6 availability zones.
- AZ is one or more discrete data centers with redundant power, networking and connectivity.
- These Availability Zones are separated from each other for disaster management.
- These Availability Zones are already connected with high bandwidth, ultra-low latency networking.
Edge Locations (AWS Points of Presence)
- Amazon has 400+ Edge locations, 10+ Regional Caches in 90+ cities across 40+ countries.
- Content is delivered to end users with lower latency.

Aws provide access to a service through search bar, service list by category, by alphabetic order and other way. Just remember all services are region-scoped and very few are global.
